Do I apply to the DPT 4+3 Program as part of my application to Rutgers?
No, this is a separate application process. Students will initially apply to Rutgers University through admissions. After declaring Exercise Science as a major in the Spring of their First Year interested students will be given access to apply to the Pre-PT Concentration. Students then accepted into the Pre-PT Concentration will be eligible to apply to the DPT Programs in the Summer after their Second Year.
How does a student show interest in the DPT 4+3 Program?
Interested students can fill out the initial interest form before the Fall Semester of their First Year. Our interest survey can be found on the homepage under 'Announcements'.
Can transfers and upperclassmen apply into this program?
Unfortunately, no, due to the rigor of the program and timeline only First Year students are eligible.
If I am accepted into the DPT 4+3 Program am I guaranteed admission into the DPT Program?
Unfortunately, no. After review of applications, the committee will select the most qualified students for admittance into the DPT Program.
What happens to the students in the Pre-PT Concentration who were not accepted into the DPT 4+3 Program?
Those students may still remain in the Pre-PT Concentration. This program will help better prepare them as they reapply through general admissions the next year.
If a student in the Pre-PT Concentration is not accepted into the Rutgers DPT Graduate Program can they still participate in events held for the Pre-PT Concentration?
Yes. They can participate in events such as In-services, Community Service, Workshops, and events with the Graduate School faculty.
If a student was not accepted into one of the Rutgers DPT Graduate Program through the DPT 4+3 Program, can they reapply the next year?
Yes. The student is eligible to reapply to both Rutgers Graduate program with the general application pool. *Please be aware that applying through the general application pool does not guarantee acceptance.
What happens if a student accepted into the DPT 4+3 Program withdraws?
The seat will then be given to the next eligible student from the student cohort in the Pre-PT Concentration.
If I am accepted into the Pre-PT Concentration, does this mean I am admitted to a DPT Program from my First Year forward?
No, there is no guaranteed admittance into the DPT Program in the First Year. Students accepted into the Pre-PT Concentration will apply to the DPT Program in the Summer of their Third Year. After reviewing applications, the JPOC committee will select 20 qualified students into the DPT Program in the Summer after their Second Year.
