Educational/Research Interests
Dr. Alderman has established a patient-oriented research program to study how exercise and other behavioral interventions can be used to enhance physiological, neurocognitive and psychological resilience. His research program incorporates psychophysiological and cognitive neuroscience techniques, including event-related potentials (ERPs) and impedance cardiography, to better understand acute and chronic adaptations to exercise, and how knowledge of these adaptations can be applied to intervention development. The ultimate goal is to better understand how exercise and/or physical activity may improve emotional reactivity and cognitive function among at-risk patient populations.

Educational Interests
Dr. Nicole Nagle earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Sport Studies from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. She then went on to graduate school at New York Medical College, earning her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Her Doctoral Thesis was in the Retention of Primitive Reflexes in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Dr. Nagle joined the Department of Kinesiology and Health Faculty in the Fall of 2012 as a Part Time Lecturer (PTL). In the Fall of 2015, she transitioned to full time faculty as an Academic Instructor. Dr. Nagle is the Program Director of the new Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) 4+3 Program between the Department of Kinesiology and Health and the School of Health Professions Doctor of Physical Therapy North and South Programs. As an alumnus of the Department, Dr. Nagle is working to increase Alumni Relations within the Department.
In addition to teaching, Dr. Nagle is a practicing physical therapist at SportsCare Physical Therapy in Hoboken. Her specialty area is outpatient orthopedics with a manual based approach and concussions. Her thirst for knowledge is forever growing, as she regularly participates in continuing education courses. As a clinician, besides treating she has mentored Rutgers University Students for their internship in Exercise Science, and served as a Clinical Instructor for students from the Rutgers Newark and Kean Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) Programs. She feels that as a practicing clinician she offers a unique facet by providing the students with insight into the practical application of their coursework in the professional field.

Courses Taught
01:377:205 Principles of Healthy Lifestyle
01:377:301 Psychology of Sport and Exercise
01:377:336 Sleep, Health and Performance
Educational/Research Interests
Trained as an experimental psychologist, Dr. Spaeth has dedicated herself to a career in sleep research aimed at advancing our understanding of how changes in sleep behaviors affect health outcomes, with a focus on weight management and metabolic health. Dr. Spaeth developed her own independent line of research in this area as a graduate student by assessing the impact of sleep on weight, caloric intake and energy expenditure in healthy adults participating in an ongoing in-laboratory sleep restriction protocol. As a postdoctoral researcher, she gained experience in the implementation of sleep and meal timing interventions outside of the laboratory and examined the impact of these interventions on cardiometabolic outcomes. The ultimate goal of Dr Spaeth's research will be to develop and implement effective lifestyle modification interventions related to sleep in diverse at-risk populations to promote health and wellness.
