Academic advising is a collaborative relationship between an advisor and student, with the goal to guide a student towards their educational and career goals.

Academic Advising Philosophy

Academic Advising in the Department of Kinesiology and Health at Rutgers University involves more than simply planning a schedule for each term. It offers accepted students in the Pre-PT Concentration the opportunity to identify their personal and academic strengths, and empower them to identify, optimize and strive for excellence. The Pre-PT Concentration is not a major, but a set of rigorous courses designed to prepare students to apply for the highly competitive DPT 4+3 Program. Students in the Pre-PT concentration must major in Exercise Science within the Department of Kinesiology and Health. The Pre-PT concentration requires accepted students to maintain a close relationship with program staff throughout their four years at Rutgers.
