The Physical Therapy Program of Rutgers SHP, is located on the Biomedical and Health Sciences Campus in Newark within close proximity to New York City.
The program is committed to teaching, scholarship, research and professional leadership. It was the first physical therapy program to be established in New Jersey and has been an accredited program since the first graduating class in 1980.
Our graduation rate and National Board Exam pass rates remain well above average and many of our graduates go on to become leaders in the profession. The program is three years in length and graduates earn a Doctor of Physical Therapy after successfully completing 110 credits of didactic and clinical education.
Providing a rich environment for academic growth, the Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Sciences developed a Doctor of Physical Therapy program that educates students to effectively function within current and future health care environments. Graduates will have the skills as movement specialists to use best evidence to optimize function and promote wellness across the lifespan.
